KOFXII release date.So when I was doing my daily check of www.iplaywinner.com I found a piece of news myself and others had pretty much given up on, finally we get confirmation of KOFXIII heading to home consoles. It may be 4-5 months away but to say I'm extremely excited about this would be an understatement.

Here is a quote of the article taken from www.iplaywinner.com:
This is a bit of news I know many of us have been waiting for: King of Fighters XIII is officially coming to consoles October 25th 2011! The game will be published by Atlus and they've already opened an official website for the game as well, though not much is there right now.The game is also up for pre-order on Amazon.com, priced at US$49.99.

Details on netcode and whatnot are sparse right now, but we'll be sure to update as more KOFXIII news rolls through!

Now all we have to do is wait for news of a PAL release. I know I'll have an itchy credit card finger if the PS3 PAL release is lagging too far behind the U.S version.

Keits on SRK recently linked to an IGN interview where Capcom's Christian Svensson was asked about why we haven't seen any DLC for MVC3. His reply was even shorter than this news item is, at only one line, but it was enough to wet the tongues of those that were fiending for some fresh MAHVEL content.

IGN: What's up with downloadable content for Marvel vs. Capcom 3? We haven't heard anything.
Svensson: I'm going to ask you to wait and see. We have been more radio silent than I would like us to be.

Does this mean it will be something big? New characters? Who knows, but ill be waiting and seeing as instructed. The full interview can be found HERE. Worth a look if you're a cross-genre capcom fan as well.

Gamersyde posted the first trailer for Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition today. It'll feature GGPO netcode and Youtube match uploading! Game is set for release Summer US this year, which translates to pretty damn soon for us kiwi folk. One thing worth noting, is that absence of the PSN logo in the trailer. This trailer might be for XBOX live arcade promotional purposes, hopefully there is no delay between XBL release and the PSN version.

Here's a link to the HD download of the trailer here.

Oh Sentinel!  I Remember the good old days, when you had so much health.  I could call you to assist with wanton abandon.  I could count on you to be there for me, even after having three characters DHC thier way through your life bar.  I could let the first 2 members of my team die, only to have you come out last and save the day with level 3 X-Factor.  Those were the good old days, and I remember them fondly.

It certainly has been an interesting event for fighting game players.  Unlike our FPS/Strategy gaming counterparts, we have found comfort in knowing that a fighting game when released was final, and that what you saw was what you got.  Now, what we see is what we get, maybe.

A tournament with a twist! RANDOM ULTRA is a random team tournament which will have plenty of time remaining for casual setups.
Date: Saturday the 21st of May.
Time: Registration opens at 11:00am. Games start at 12:00pm. Wrapped up by 5:00pm.
Games: Super Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Cost: $10 per person per game or $15 dollars for two games.
Venue: Giga Internet Cafe, Level 2, 65 Wakefield Street, Auckland CBD.
Prizes: Spot prizes :-)

Because the teams will be random at this tournament there are no cash prizes however we will have spot prizes which will be given out during the day.

Rules/Format:
  • Teams will consist of two players;
  • Teams will be randomly selected on the day of the tournament;
  • Each player must nominate two characters for SSF4 and two teams for MVC3 at the time of registration. Players may only use their nominated characters during the tournament;
  • Mikado format will be used (IE: team alphabet vs team numbers, Player A plays Player 1, Player B then plays Player 2, if A & B or 1 & 2 win then the game is over, otherwise the winner from team numbers plays the winner from team alphabet);
  • All other standard rules apply.
Other:
  • Casuals are expected to start around 2pm. Spectators do not get to play casuals;
  • All games will be played on XBOX360;
  • Please remember to bring your controllers!
See you guys there!
Apparently MK9 had the most people watching on the stream out of the games played (Super Street Fighter 4, Marvel vs Capcom 3, Tekken 6, and Mortal Kombat 9).
